Use cases / Log analytics
Keep every log searchable, without sizing a cluster for it.
Point your shippers at WarpSearch, keep months of data in one index with storage tiered per GB, and run the same filters and aggregations your dashboards already use.
- 1 to 2 msmedian to filter 22M events
- 76,000+events a second ingested on 2 to 4 CPUs
- $0.05per GB-month from 1 TB to 100 TB stored, and $0.035 above
Fits the pipeline you already have
Your shippers
Logstash, Filebeat and other Beats, Fluent Bit and Vector send through their Elasticsearch outputs. See connect a shipper.
Your queries
Elasticsearch DSL and aggregations, SQL and PostgreSQL SQL, Lucene syntax and LogQL. See Query languages.
Your dashboards
Grafana's Elasticsearch and OpenSearch data sources work for logs and metrics panels.
Find the needle
Exact counts and millisecond filters across hundreds of millions of lines, within any time range.
One index, tiered storage
No hot, warm and cold clusters to manage. Storage gets cheaper per GB as it grows.
No capacity planning
No shards, nodes or retention policies to size before you start.
What it costs to keep logs searchable
Monthly cost at list prices in US East, compared with running OpenSearch yourself.
| Platform | Mid-size logs | Large logs |
|---|---|---|
| WarpSearch | $1,465 | $39,060 |
| OpenSearch Service | About $2,0001.4x cheaper | About $103,0002.6x cheaper |
| Aiven | About $18,00012x cheaper | Not a fit |
| Mid-size logs | 10 TB of raw logs kept searchable. 1 TB written a month. 10,000 dashboard aggregation queries a month. |
|---|---|
| Large logs | 1 PB of raw logs kept searchable. 50 TB written a month. 100,000 heavy aggregation queries a month. |

Good to know
Kibana and OpenSearch Dashboards do not connect; use Grafana. There are no index templates, ingest pipelines or ILM, so create the collection yourself and parse logs in your shipper. The Loki push API is not supported.
