What you don't pay for
- Clusters. No nodes, shards or replicas to size, and no version upgrades.
- Idle capacity. Idle indexes cost nothing, and traffic spikes are absorbed automatically.
- Separate vector and keyword stacks. Hybrid search is one index and one query.
- Embeddings plumbing. Built-in embeddings and filters are part of the service.
Keeping the bill small
Both meters follow choices you make: what you index, how vectors are searched, and how often you query. Approximate instead of exact vector search, indexing only the fields you search, and caching repeated queries are the big ones.
