WarpSearch vs Websolr
Hosted Apache Solr with quote-based pricing and a request count that grows with query time: every 10 ms counts as a request. WarpSearch publishes its prices and counts a request as one request, with 50 ms of CPU included.
Looking for a Websolr alternative with prices you can read before you sign? WarpSearch answers the Solr HTTP API, so SolrJ, pysolr and your existing queries connect with a new endpoint. Every price is on the pricing page, a request includes 50 ms of CPU, and every paid account gets a 99.9% uptime SLA.
Head to head
Shorter bars are better.
Billed requests. WarpSearch includes 50 ms of CPU in each request; Websolr counts one request per 10 ms
How they bill
| WarpSearch | Websolr | |
|---|---|---|
| Prices | Public: $0.08 per GB stored, $1.00 per GB written, $2 per million requests | Not published on the plans page |
| How a request is counted | One request, with 50 ms of CPU included | Every 10 ms of execution is a request; a 100 ms query counts as 10 |
| Limits | No document count or per-collection size cap | Document count and index size on Standard; index size on Business |
| Uptime SLA | 99.9% on every paid account, from $10 | Business and Enterprise only |
| Vector and hybrid search | On every plan, same price per request | Depends on the Solr version |
| APIs | Solr, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, SQL and PPL | Solr |
What Websolr cannot do, or does only in part: No public prices. Standard plans cap document count and index size; Business caps index size. Requests are counted in 10 ms units, so a slow query uses several requests of quota. Uptime commitments are on Business and Enterprise only.

Measured October 2026 through our Elasticsearch-compatible API, warm cache, client in the same region, single runs. Every test ran on deliberately minimal hardware, 2 to 4 CPUs (a 4 CPU container or an AWS i8g.large with 2 vCPUs), so these are the least favorable results we can produce. More hardware only improves them. Numbers exclude internet round trips.
Bottom line
Choose WarpSearch for
- Prices you can read before you sign: $2 per million requests, from $10 a month.
- Facets and filters that do not use quota faster: a request includes 50 ms of CPU.
- A 99.9% uptime SLA on every paid account.
- No document count or index size cap, and vector and hybrid search on every plan.
Pick WarpSearch for Solr search with public prices, one request per query and a 99.9% SLA from $10.
Questions
How much does Websolr cost?
Websolr does not publish plan prices on its plans page; you get them in the dashboard or from sales. WarpSearch lists every rate: $0.08 per GB stored, $1.00 per GB written and $2 per million requests, with a $10 monthly minimum and a free tier up to 1 GB.
How does Websolr count search requests?
Websolr normalizes requests by execution time, with 10 ms as one request. A 5 ms query counts as half a request, and a 100 ms query counts as 10. Facets and heavy filters use quota faster. A WarpSearch request includes 50 ms of CPU, so a 50 ms query is one request, not five.
Does Websolr have an SLA?
Websolr describes an SLA on its Business plan and a negotiated one on Enterprise. Every paid WarpSearch account has a 99.9% uptime SLA, from $10 a month.
Is there a Websolr alternative for Heroku apps?
WarpSearch is an HTTPS API that works from any host, Heroku included. Set the Solr URL to https://api.warpsearch.io/compat/solr/{collection} and send an API key header. See Solr compatibility.
