WarpSearch vs Opensolr

Hosted Apache Solr on fixed plans with small per-index disk caps. Opensolr's listed plans stop at 300 MB per index, and 99.9% uptime is Enterprise only. WarpSearch has no per-collection cap and a 99.9% SLA from $10.

Looking for an Opensolr alternative that grows past a few hundred megabytes? WarpSearch answers the Solr HTTP API, so SolrJ, pysolr and your existing queries connect with a new endpoint. There is no per-index disk cap, vector and hybrid search cost the same as any request, and every paid account gets a 99.9% uptime SLA.

Each pair compares the entry plans as listed. Longer bars are better for size and included requests; shorter is better for downtime.

What Opensolr cannot do, or does only in part: Listed plans cap each index at 100 to 300 MB, with 1 to 3 indexes. Uptime is 98% on Small and 99% on Medium and Large; 99.9% is Enterprise only, at a custom price. 500 AI requests a month are included, with more sold in tiers up to €2,500 a month. Backup Manager is a paid add-on. The API allows 120 requests a minute per account.

Measured October 2026 through our Elasticsearch-compatible API, warm cache, client in the same region, single runs. Every test ran on deliberately minimal hardware, 2 to 4 CPUs (a 4 CPU container or an AWS i8g.large with 2 vCPUs), so these are the least favorable results we can produce. More hardware only improves them. Numbers exclude internet round trips.

Bottom line

Choose WarpSearch for

  • Indexes past a few hundred megabytes, without an Enterprise quote.
  • A 99.9% uptime SLA from $10, instead of 98 to 99% on the listed plans.
  • Vector and hybrid search at $2 per million, instead of AI request tiers.
  • One collection for keyword, vector, facets and logs, through the Solr, Elasticsearch or OpenSearch API.

Pick WarpSearch when your Solr index outgrows a few hundred megabytes, or when you need a 99.9% SLA without an Enterprise contract.

Questions

How much does Opensolr cost?

Opensolr lists Small from €17 a month (1 index, 100 MB), Medium from €35 (2 indexes, 200 MB each) and Large from €53 (3 indexes, 300 MB each), billed yearly. Enterprise is custom. WarpSearch is free up to 1 GB, then from $10 a month with no per-collection cap.

What uptime does Opensolr guarantee?

Its pricing page lists 98% on Small and 99% on Medium and Large, which allows about 14 hours and 7 hours of downtime a month. 99.9% is listed on Enterprise only. Every paid WarpSearch account has a 99.9% uptime SLA, about 43 minutes a month.

What if my Solr index is bigger than 300 MB?

On Opensolr that means the Enterprise plan and a custom quote. On WarpSearch a collection has no size cap: storage is $0.08 per GB a month, and less at volume. A 10 GB catalog costs well under $1 a month to store.

Does Opensolr include vector search?

Opensolr includes 500 AI requests a month and sells more in tiers, up to €2,500 a month for 1M. On WarpSearch a vector or hybrid search is a normal request at $2 per million, so the $10 minimum alone covers 5M of them.

Does WarpSearch work with my Solr clients?

WarpSearch serves the Solr HTTP API with Solr-shaped JSON and javabin responses, so SolrJ, pysolr and other Solr clients connect with a base URL and an API key header. See Solr compatibility.
