with full API compatibility. Your existing clients, SDKs, queries and tooling keep working: change
the endpoint and the credentials, and nothing else.

Authenticate with an API key from the [management console](/management/) instead of your
cluster's credentials.

## What you no longer manage

No nodes, shards or replicas to size, no version upgrades, and no capacity planning. Idle indexes
cost nothing, and traffic spikes are absorbed automatically.
